How to configure form by EMail in FrontPage 98

1) First of all your web server must have FP98 extensions installed (FP97 extensions won't do).

2) Edit the FRONTPAGE.INI file which resides on the your web server (for NT4 this will be in C:\WINNT). In the [Frontpage 3.0] section add the following line:

SMTPHost=abc.def.com

(where abc.def.com is the your SMTP server, so for instance I use SMTPHost=smtp.dial.pipex.com). You shouldn't need to supply a userid or password if you already hold an account on that mail server. Note that it must be your web server which can see the smtp host across the internet/intranet, not the client.

3) In the form properties enter the email address you want to send the form data to (eg. I enter Clive.Langdon@dial.pipex.com). Optionally enter a filename for the data to be written to also.

It should be as simple as that. If anyone still has problems however, I will be glad to assist in anyway I can.

Clive_Langdon@ssm.ccmail.compuserve.com
